A Notice to the Congregation - November 20th, 2020
Dear Westwood Family
We are taking this opportunity to update you regarding the new Provincial Health Orders regarding indoor Public gatherings which includes the Faith Community.
We are saddened to inform you that we will not be allowed to hold a service with 50 individuals in the building for now as the pandemic cases are rising.
However for the purposes of recording they will only allow 10 people to gather indoors.
This Health order will be in place until December 7th at which time it will then be reviewed again and possibly lifted.
In the meantime we strongly encourage you to “CONNECT WITH THE SERVICE ON SUNDAY MORNINGS AT 10:30 AM THROUGH FB LIVE OR YOUTUBE AT THE SAME TIME; FOR THE PURPOSE OF BEING IN ONE SPIRIT IN PRAYER,WORSHIP AND THE WORD.”
We ask you as well to please share the service on FB Live and YouTube to your network of Friends extending the evangelistic reach to as many as possible. If you connect with the service on Facebook would you please interact by commenting and use the emoji’s frequently; the more comments and likes of those comments will allow the service post to appear more frequently on the Newsfeed which will result in more people having an opportunity to see the service.
Having said that, I trust that you will also be praying for these restrictions to be lifted and for church services to be fully reopened again.
I’m reminded of the encouraging words from the scriptures at this time in Hebrews 6:10-12
“For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Dear Westwood family ; May the Lord Richly Bless you as we continue to serve him in this very challenging time.

Dear W.C.C. Family,
We trust you are well in these very uncertain times experiencing the protection of the Lord.
Pastors Lina and I have been continually declaring Psalms 91 over our Westwood family especially since the Covid-19 Breakout.
As a Leadership Team, we have been seeking to discern how to implement appropriate measures to ensure the safety of our community at large and the most vulnerable, within the restrictions mandated by the BC Government. We trust that you have been receiving the WCC Emails or have been following the social media platforms, our Facebook and Instagram pages as well as checking in to view our website www.westwoodcc.ca for any updates.
Please connect with the Westwood Community Church Facebook page if you have not yet done so. It is very important in this time to be able to receive every means of communication available from Westwood.
Our Sunday services will be live streamed at 10:30am until further notice and we encourage all of our congregation to join us through FB Live at the present, until an alternate means of streaming through Vimeo is fully activated. A reminder that you can give your tithes and offerings through E-transfer/ Visa/Debit and we possibly will have in place a new system for giving on our website very soon. Please check our website frequently for further updates.
On Sunday there will be a very small group physically present in the sanctuary to conduct the service until further notice. We know that this is quite disappointing for many but we recognize that the safety of the congregation is of utmost importance.
Having said that, we encourage you to take every opportunity to join the Zoom Calls Tuesdays to Friday’s at 7-8pm and together, we will overcome this crisis until a normality returns.
We want to declare to you God's words to Joshua in a time of uncertainty for Israel “ Be strong and courageous for the Lord God is with you”
In the light of the present developments, we recognize the importance of following through with the safety measures announced by our BC Government to keep everyone in our church community safe by not gathering in numbers greater than 50 people. We thank God that this pandemic however cannot stop the Holy Spirit from moving and the people of God from praying together in this time of crisis. The Body of Christ is not confined to a building; but it is the family of God who are the living stones that make up Gods Spiritual house.
Therefore, we rejoice that nothing can stop us from storming the gates of Heaven through prayer and intercession.
With that said, we will be starting our Zoom Prayer Calls in place of the Fire and Freedom service starting this Friday, from 7-8pm. We will then continue next week, Tues through to Friday, from 7-8pm, or until further notice. Please join us in prayer at any of these times. For those of you that have joined our calls before we will be using the same Zoom call format.
For those who have access to wi-fi, you can join the Zoom call for free if you have the Zoom app downloaded. The One dial tap below can be accessed on your smart phone only when you click the link from your inbox.

Special Announcement Regarding Covid-19 Outbreak and Westwood Services
Dear Westwood Family,
We trust you are well in every way and we pray that the hand of the lord will be upon you all.
As a leadership team we are actively monitoring what is developing regarding the Covid-19 outbreak with great concern for the safety and well being of our Church Family. We are presently assessing and discerning our course of action regarding our activities, policies and procedures in response to this risk.
As you have heard me address you the last two Sunday services; we are encouraging the congregation to take the necessary precautions regarding hand washing frequently; avoiding hand shaking or hugging and to use good coughing and sneezing etiquette.
We have installed hand sanitizers in the entrance to our building, sanctuary and bathrooms and we would encourage you to practice good hygiene. Now we recognize that many have already been avoiding attending the service on Sundays because of their compromised immune systems or respiratory issues and we believe it is the right decision to avoid the risk.
We are fully aware of the recent announcement made by our Provincial Government from Dr. Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health banning events and gatherings over 250 people and we are in that category.
As a Leadership Team we have decided to continue this coming Sunday Service on March 15th for now (the only service affected by the announcement) for those that want to come.
We will continue to monitor any further developments in the week to follow and we will communicate to the congregation accordingly.
However, all the other gatherings and ministries during the week will continue regardless because they are not in that category numerically.
We recognize that many may choose to not attend because of the concern or possible risk ; If that is your decision we encourage you to watch the service on the Westwood website which will be posted later on Sunday evening. We also encourage you to continue to be faithful in giving your tithes and offerings recognizing that the work of the Lord will continue as we go through this time.We have available a number of options for giving if you cannot come personally. You can give through E-Transfer (adding Westwood Community Church as a transferee with your bank and send the funds to Gillian’s e-mail address; [email protected] ) or if you want to give through visa/debit, please call her and give her your info with specific instructions.
In closing, our desire in informing you is not to alarm you or increase any stress or fear regarding this outbreak; but to simply inform you sharing our heart with you ensuring the safety of our church family.
I want to remind you of Psalms 91: 9-10 which promises that the Lord will take care of us :
“Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.”
Dear Westwood Family let's continue to trust God and together face this present challenge with Faith and Hope taking every opportunity to reach others with the gospel that can minister comfort and confidence to everyone that is searching.
May the Lord Bless you
